Fave Beauty Tweets of the week

#28: Uneven skin-tone? Alpha-arbutin (as found in the crème a-vc)  is 10x more effective at brightening and maintaining an even skin tone.

#29: Did you know? Vitamin A and C are both anti-aging fighters… You can find them in our Vital Nanoemulsion a-vc

#30: Follow the goodness of “water therapy”. Drink a lot of water as it helps to get rid your body of toxins.

#31: The restoration clear gel is our best selling product for a reason: This gentle gel will exfoliate your skin, leaving you with less wrinkles and a healthy glow.

#32: If you sleep in a bedroom with central heating your skin will suffer and become dry because of lack of moisture in the room – the remedy is a bowl of water placed on your radiator which will increase the humidity in the room

#33: As you get older you need to use less make-up, not more! Too much, can be extremely aging and too much powder is the biggest culprit.

Fave Beauty Tweets Of The Week

#11: Toners are meant to remove all remaining traces of oil, makeup and dirt, but a good cleanser should do this. Instead, oily skin gals can use toner as moisturizer.

#12: Exfoliation is the step most people skip in their weekly skincare routine. But trust me, if you start properly exfoliating your skin, you will notice an almost immediate difference.

#13: The skin around the eye contains no fatty tissue and is therefore very thin and susceptible to wrinkles. Special eye creams are formulated to ‘thicken’ this area and keep it sturdy

#14: Your skin care routine should be simple and include cleanser, exfoliation, moisturizer, spot treatment and sunscreen.

#15: Natural skincare  products should be kept out of direct sunlight to avoid discoloration & get max shelf life.

#16: Sunscreen is the most important part of your skincare regimen, even during winter. The number 1 cause of wrinkles is sun damage!

#17: And remember:  your sunblock should be applies at least 15mn before going into the sun.

#18: Our patented emulsification technology makes it possible to create nano-sized particles of products more effective when massaged into the skin. Hence the name of our Nanoemulsion cream!

#19: Vitamin B will help promote a healthy skin tone and glow. Time to stock up!

#20:  Keep your glow in this scorching heat: Start drinking three litters of water every day. Since water flushes out all impurities from your body.

It Takes Two

Why should I clean my face twice? That was my thought when I first heard about a process called  “dual cleansing”!

If you’re like me, your cleaning routine (especially on a late night of partying) is to wipe off the eyes with some lotion and a cotton pad – after all, we’ve been conditioned to never go to bed with makeup on- splash some water and vigorously dry my face (instead of the gentle patting beauty experts recommend) to make sure everything is gone. Ha!

That clearly did not clean anything (if the eruption of pimples is any indication).

I started religiously washing my face with a nice, expensive cleanser, massaging everything diligently for 60 seconds only to discover traces of mascara or foundation on my pillowcase the next morning!

I was quite dubious of cleansing gels or “pre-cleansers” as they like to call them and yet, one day, decided to give it a try. After all, they were all the rage on makeupalley’s skincare board!

Well, let me tell you: it is the most effective way to really remove dirt before cleaning my skin without ripping my eyelashes off with the eye makeup remover (yes, I rubbed my eye lids with the cotton pad. How else am I supposed to do this?)

To my big surprise, cleansing gels remove EVERYTHING, not just my eye makeup:  by massaging the gel into the skin, it blends with the makeup and other impurities and really lifts everything up. Wipe it off and follow with a cleanser (this will remove whatever is left) and you’re finally cleaning your face.

Dual cleansing is really the only way I’ve kept my skin clear. Just make sure you choose a cleansing oil or gel suitable for your skin type (there are plenty on the market, so every budget can find the appropriate one; but watch out ladies, I heard a dermatologist once say that if you don’t thoroughly rinse off the cleansing oil—it can lead to the clogging of pores and breaking out!) and voila: squeaky-clean skin…

And since you’re reading this blog, go have a look at our non-clogging, cleansing clear gel and follow it with the washing foam.  All the info you need is at: http://www.marielouisecosmetics.com/products_cleansing_clear_gel.html

A Brand New Beginning

So…here I am…never thought that I would actually write about my beauty adventures…failures and successes?  I had my first pimple when I was 11 and now many years later, after thousands (yes…I’m not exaggerating) of products, my skin seems finally under control.  Well, at least most of the time.  This has been a long journey and my skin is still changing from time to time depending on the weather, my moods, eating habits, sleeping patterns and mostly importantly the types of products I use to accommodate my Indecisive SKIN that seems to be always changing.

One of the first things I learned is that once damaged, repairing is really not that easy just like any relationships.  Therefore, prevention is the key.  No matter how many advertisements, commercials and sales people that assures you that their products are the best and will undo the damage either immediately or soon.  Just remember that the damage was not made in a day, therefore, it will take much longer for your skin to heal.  Why not start early and the first things that you can do is wear sunscreen.  YES!  I know, that’s it!  I know, it sounds so simple but a lot of us including myself didn’t realize how much damages the sun could do to my skin until my late 20s.  So, STOP BEING LAZY and just apply a layer of sunscreen before you go out!
