Beauty makes the world go round and vice versa!

We’re always on the lookout for the latest and greatest beauty trends from Asia but who knew that that beauty makes the world go round and vice versa!

Here are some interesting ingredients from all over the world for quick fix beauty issues!

China: Camellia oil Camellia oil is one of the most common cooking oils in southern China, but it’s also renowned for its ability to prevent stretch marks and discoloration.
Mexico: Tepezcohuite The bark of this tree has tons of astringent tannins making it great for preventing infections and keeping scars from forming.
The Dominican Republic: Garlic For strong, healthy nails: chop up some garlic, throw it in a bottle of top coat, and then, after letting it soak for about a week, start using it as normal. It makes your nails stronger and also has antifungal and antimicrobial properties.
India: Neem A weekly head massage with neem and coconut oil are Indian women’s go-to treatment for gorgeous hair and a healthy scalp. Recipes for the combination have a long history in Ayurvedic medicine.
Japan: Sake Try a sake bath. Sake is high in kojic acid and enzymes that soften skin and help reduce hyper-pigmentation.
New Zealand: Manuka honey The Kiwi type of honey is antibacterial and antimicrobial than the regular kind, and it’s even used in poultices to protect wounds.
Ghana: Black soap This great Ghanian soap is legendary for its gentle cleansing properties and skin-softening abilities. It’s made with plantain skins, which have loads of vitamins A and E, and moisturizing shea butter. What you get is a cleanser that removes dirt and oil but doesn’t strip skin of any natural moisture.
France: Milk Milk is full of gentle lactic acid, which exfoliates and softens without the harshness of stronger acid types. Pour some fresh whole milk or cream into your bath along with honey or lavender to get a gorgeous glow.
Morocco: Argan oil This antioxidant-packed oil is great for hair and skin, and it absorbs much more easily than common skin oils like apricot and avocado.
The Amazon: Passion flower oil Passion flower oil, aka maracuja, has been used in the Amazon for thousands of years because of its anti-inflammatory abilities, but it’s also high in fatty acids and vitamin C.

Good Skin = Good Makeup: The Importance of Prepping Your Skin Pre-Makeup

I was in a rush today and as I checked my reflection in the car mirror, I almost did a sudden brake. I looked terrible. Like what-were-you-thinking-leaving-the-house-like-that-terrible. Since I was rushing to get out of the house, I barely lathered enough moisturizer after quickly washing my face and I didn’t stop to check the awful foundation lines that didn’t reach my jawline. In short, I looked like a heavily-bronzed extra on Jersey Shore. Help.

Ladies – the easiest way to apply on makeup smoother is by prepping your skin accordingly. No amount of makeup will conceal all those physical imperfections (acne, large pores, brown spots, etc.) without getting your skin ready pre-makeup.

CLEANSE: If you just don’t have time to shower in the morning, then at least wash your face with a gentle, hydrating cleanser. You know that oily, greasy residue on your face especially around your T-Zone area when you wake up? Well first of all, that’s dirt (EW why would you want that on your face ALL day) and second of all, it certainly won’t help your makeup stay on all day.

EXFOLIATE: Now just because you washed your face doesn’t mean you’re ready to apply your makeup. You probably still have some dirt and dead skin cells which is why its essential to exfoliate! Using an exfoliating product like the Marie Louise Restoration Clear Gel will rid your skin of dirt, grime, dead skin cells, and other things your cleanser didn’t remove which will make your makeup glide on smoother.

MOISTURIZE: You must moisturize especially since your skin maybe a little dry from the exfoliating. Also don’t forget to add on sunscreen as the last step BEFORE applying on your foundation, concealer, powder, etc.

PRIMER (optional): Some makeup artists and beauty experts believe in using primers before applying foundation but personally, I don’t think its necessary especially if you already have moisturizer and sunscreen on. Primers are just like moisturizers which helps fill in large pores and helps foundation adhere and stay on longer. If you feel that you can skip this step, then by all means do so!
