How to Streamline your Skincare Routine

Ever feel like you never have enough time in the morning getting ready for work?

This month’s Allure magazine shows us how to streamline our skincare routine so that YOU have more time for that well-deserved cup of coffee:

  • Morning Rush: Start right by washing your face with a gentle cleanser that best fits your skin type. You can apply an anti-aging serum or you can finish off with a facial moisturizer with SPF.
  • Sleeping Beauty: Make the most of your beauty sleep by using products to treat all your skin issues like acne, dryness, brown spots, etc. Wash your face with the same morning cleanser and then apply the right active ingredients. Consult with your dermatologist about the right products with the right ingredients for your face – i.e. salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide for acne, peptide cream for fine lines, retinoid for wrinkles, etc.
  • Don’t take your Time: You’re already rushing in the morning so you shouldn’t be spending an hour applying your makeup. Besides, the best time to apply your skincare and makeup is when your skin is still damp, in order to maximize penetration. Ever try to apply makeup after your skin is already dry? Cleanse your skin and then quickly move on to the next step.

Here’s also a handy guide on what NOT to combine in the morning:

  • Retinoids + Glycolic Acid = Redness & Dryness. Both ingredients exfoliate so no need to overdo sloughing your skin away.
  • Vitamin C + Copper Peptides= Ineffective Anti-Aging. The acid in Vitamin C reduces the efficacy of the peptides so why put on both?
  • Benzoyl Peroxide + Anything = Irritation. This ingredient found in most acne spot-treatments should only be used on bare skin since anything else (including moisturizers) can increase its results.
